>The program was conceived by director Park Hee-ung to pay homage to the 30th anniversary of the agreement to a ceasefire that brought an end to the Korean War. It was initially pitched as a small segment to be featured on the morning show Studio 830 with the title I Still Haven’t Found my Family.Shortly following this pitch, however, KBS received a large number of applications to appear on the program, alerting the producers to the significant number of Korean families dispersed by war and their continued suffering. As a result, KBS president Lee Won-hong granted permission for an extended special broadcast to be aired, which led to the creation of the program.
>Whilst the broadcast was originally planned with a duration of 95 minutes, it ran for a total of 453 hours and 45 minutes over 138 daysas KBS was inundated with requests for help to re-connect individuals with their lost family members. As a result, 53,000 people were featured on air, uniting 10,000 families over its course.

How beautiful
Damn – that’s incredibly touching. Very moving – thank you for posting.
When I first saw these on my YouTube feed, I thought they were reuniting families separated by the 38th parallel, families that were stranded in one country or another. These were, in fact, families living in South Korea that were separated in the fog of war, who ended up in different parts of the country never knowing what became of their family members still living in the South.
I remember seeing a similar program from Cambodia. I couldn’t help wonder why they couldn’t find each other in the same country. It appears South Korea went through the same type of separation after their own war. War takes a horrific toll on families.
was this somehow reconnected families between North and South Korea or was this all within South Korea?
I’m a Korean too and gotta say, I miss the time when our people had love and care for each other. It is just bleak and cold since 2014.
wow this is fucking amazing
This is so wonderful.
Oh nooo, I cannot watch this without tears in my eyes. 😠Wars are senseless tragedies created by people kn power!
“I thought you were dead”
^(Right in the feels.)
Kudos to the managing team
I’m jaded but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the reunions were faked for propaganda purposes.
